Let’s just say it, registries are obnoxious. The concept is wonderful but there are so many things that come along with creating one that can be stressful. With my first child I tried my best to avoid buying things that most mother’s say they get but never actually use. I thought it would be helpful to share a list of things I found helpful once the little guy was actually here.
- Car Seat After hours, possibly days of research, we went with this one.
- Thule Jogger Stroller I definitely wasn’t going for fancy here despite the price tag. This stroller has the highest handle (my husband is realllly tall) and is great for jogging in the city.
- Hands-Free Breast Pump By no means is this a need but it made my list. It was extremely helpful when I went back to work and was sitting in my cubicle. It allowed me to feel somewhat normal and pump milk for my boy. I do want to add that it wasn’t my only pump, I did love it but I also used the spectra when I was able to sit still. The spectra was able to get more out of me.
- Pack ‘n Play We knew we were going to spend a great deal of time at my parents house so this was a necessity for us.
- Bath Petal I will admit this one sounds useless but I was so afraid to give him a bath and this just helped put me at ease. It was safe and easy to clean. We ended up using it until he was about 6 months old.
- Diaper Pail This was a major need for those stinky diapers.
- Baby Carrier If you enjoy being mobile and outdoors this one is a must. I wore it when grocery shopping, going for walks, museums, it really just kept him close and comfortable and allowed me to be active.
- Baby Wrap Carrier This was useful around the house. He would be able to fall asleep on me and bond while I was able to walk around the house.
- Non-toxic Baby Mattress I will be honest, mom guilt sunk in here. I HAD to have a breathable non-toxic mattress. He will sleep on it for a while so I believe it justifies the price but there are many, many cheaper options.
- White Noise Machine I was against it at first, until I got tired of shhushing to help soothe him to sleep. I then switched to an app, until I started missing my phone. I finally ended up with the Hatch white noise machine and I think we’re all better people for it.
- High Chair We didn’t want a bulky one so we went one of the attachable ones, it worked out really well for us.
- Dock-A-Tot or Boppy We ended up with both and they both came in handy during the day.
- Crib
- Onsies
- Bibs
- burp clothes
- Blankets
- Wearable blankets
- Swaddles
- Bath Towels
- Hats
- Bottles
- Bottle Cleaner
- Pacifiers
- First Aid Kit
- Teething toys
Good luck mama and papa and congratulations!
